Achieving digital sustainability”: A report and 11 proposals to combine increasing use of digital tech and reducing its environmental footprint

On 11 June of this year, Arcep launched a collaboration platform devoted to “Achieving digital sustainability” – calling on all interested associations, institutions, operators, digital industry businesses and experts to contribute. After six months punctuated by five thematic workshops and two “big discussions,” today Arcep is publishing a progress report on the work done thus far, which includes 42 contributions authored by the participating players. In this report, the regulator sets forth 11 proposals for successfully combining the ongoing increase in the use of digital tech and reducing its environmental footprint.

Le 11 juin dernier, l’Arcep a lancé une plateforme de travail : « pour un numérique soutenable », appelant associations, institutions, opérateurs, entreprises du numérique, personnalités intéressées à y contribuer. Après un semestre ponctué de cinq ateliers thématiques et deux « grandes discussions », l’Arcep publie ce jour un rapport d’étape, fruit de ces échanges, et alimenté par 42 contributions écrites d’acteurs participants. Dans ce rapport, le régulateur formule 11 propositions pour conjuguer développement des usages et réduction de l’empreinte environnementale du numérique.
