World Bank and ITU joint study commends Arcep’s pioneering work on measuring the ICT sector’s environmental impact

The World Bank and ITU (International Telecommunication Union) have published a joint study titled: “Measuring the Environmental impact of the ICT Sector – Arcep case study” devoted entirely to the pioneering approach spearheaded by Arcep. The Authority welcomes this international recognition of the work begun in 2019, and which has led to it being, ‘the first and only sectoral regulator today that publishes indicators on the data collected from ICT industry players to assess and track their environmental impact’. Arcep also welcomes the creation of a new ITU working group dedicated to this subject.

La Banque mondiale et l’UIT (Union internationale des télécoms) publient un rapport intitulé « Measuring National ICT Sector Environmental Impact – Arcep case study » (« Mesurer l’impact environnemental du numérique – étude du cas Arcep ») entièrement consacré à la démarche pionnière initiée par l’Arcep. L’Arcep se félicite de cette reconnaissance internationale pour ses travaux entamés en 2019, qui lui valent d’être à ce jour « le premier et unique régulateur sectoriel à publier régulièrement des indicateurs sur les données collectées auprès des acteurs du numérique pour évaluer et suivre dans le temps leur impact environnemental ». L’Autorité salue aussi la création au sein de l’UIT d’un nouveau groupe de travail dédié à ce thème.
